...been wondering about
those mysterious bubbles riding the breeze down Tybrisa Street?
well folks, that is the brainchild of Jamie Berdache and Samantha Claar
at the Sundance Bicycle Shop. the new owners are creating quite a
marketing blitz to catch attention, and it works. Jamie was putting
bikes together as fast as Samantha was renting them recently...and the
shop wasn't even officially open. it is now...big time. look for a bike
rack out front and a bike parked on the roof. these ladies rock and
their safety tested Dyno and Schwinn beach cruisers are boss at ten
bucks a day.
...just shootin' the breeze with Tybee's resident Doc, Owen
O'Shaughnessy, and he is offering financial options for all of us paying
too much for prescription drugs. the good Doc says we can buy them up to
half price from Canada ..and it is all legit! our Doc is passionate
about this and calls the drug pricing racket, "shameful." if you want to
know more, see him and his top aides Jennie McCallister and Maryann
Bramble at the Tybee Medical Center. health...matters.
...and what matters most to Miss Lily Harris Clark Parker is that her
mom and pop are married! hard to believe folks that 2-year old
Lily..that's right...2-years old, sent out wedding invitations for an
evening beach ceremony at the Tybee palace of Dr. J Nettles complete
with music from Charlie Sherrill, Claude Rhea, and the incomparable
voice and arrangements of Ms. Cece Elijah! Too much! parents Rob and
Peggy Parker are mighty proud of their darlin' little girl and admit she
had a little help with spelling the guest list. Captain Edwin Longwater
did a fine reading on the marrying honors. what a gala! the Breeze
wishes our best to the lovely Lily and her parents.
and our Breeze best to Ms. Nell Harris, the ever popular owner of
Tybee's Wind Rose Cafe. the bistro lady is marrying up with dashing Mark
Klein in a back river ceremony may 11th. their love affair started three
years ago when Mark began building the foundation for the Super 8 Motel,
just across the street from Nell's Wind Rose! geography sure had a lot
to do with this beach romance. Nell's son Howard, known to all of us as
the coolest pool shooter on Tybrisa, is giving his mom away.
...just shootin' the breeze with Jimmy Burke from City Council about
some good news. he says the Senior Citizens Complex planned addition to
the Old School is now much closer to being blessed by Statehouse
republicans and democrats... this folks to the tune of a half a million
dollars in grant money. whew. that would eventualize in a cafeteria
rehab and a big gym. Jimmy praises Tybee's Charlie Waggoner for his work
on writing the grant proposal arguing that our senior citizen population
base qualifies us for this project! way to go Charlie!
the word is that Charlie is working up more grant proposals and that can
mean a better Tybee for all of us. we also hear that Ms. Carolyn Jones
is close to starting her long awaited campaign for a childrens'
playground in Jaycee Park.
Now that would be something. it must be spring folks... the movers and
shakers are making noise!
The Conservative Party Electees and landslide winners in the november
Council Election are promising a month of may report to the people on
what accomplishments the slate of Burke, Youmans, Crawford, and Reynolds
bring to the table so far in 2002. we'll look for that...
Michael Skinner checks in...just shootin' the breeze with him at the
Pier after he and his videographer were finishing shooting sequences.
Skinner is the host/associate producer of Georgia Outdoors and was on
our Tybee to tape jellyfish and stingrays for his program about
dangerous things not to step on. we all know about that! look for it on
Georgia Public Television. it had to be a fine shooting day for Skinner
& Crew outside their Atlanta studios.
...and top gun realtor, Ms. Bonnie Gaster, is talking about a lot of
fine days ahead for Tybee Island real estate. Ms. Bonnie says the market
is most active right now and the buying public is very aware of trends
out here in paradise. she advises that the magic to all the buying and
selling now is in the pricing and that great deals are getting done. you
might want to chat with Ms. Bonnie and get the skinny on your digs!
...just shootin' the breeze with folks on the South End watching all the
powered balloon gliders swirling and soaring between the Pier & 18th
Street. hey, how about a race this summer? everybody is wearing helmets
piloting these things and the assumption must be if the motor goes south
one just floats to the beach....
and how about Johnny Mercer piano man Chris Chandler writing a score for
the big air to do? he's leaving folks with open mouths doing gigs down
at D-J's Piano Bar at Butler & Tybrisa. the Tybee great with his c-d
called Southern Charm and Swing is top shelf stuff. guaranteed that
you'll boogie away from D-J's a happier person.
probably will see you soon
...just shootin' the breeze.
