Rochelle from Tybee
"Either a portion of beach should be set aside to allow dogs or dogs
could be allowed on the beach at certain times as is done on Hilton
Head."

Craig from Tybee "Dog owners should be more responsible, but I
also think there ought to be certain areas for them. Dogs are people
too!"

Robert from Tybee "I think dogs should be able to go to the beach
to play as long as somebody stays close by. There should be somewhere on
the beach we can take them to fun with our pets. Somewhere out there."
Jim from Tybee "Dogs should definitely be allowed on the beach.
First of all, why shouldn't they? They enjoy walking on the beach in the
fresh air as much as we humans do, life has enough restrictions as it
is. As long as the owners can keep their dogs under control and clean up
after them, then why not let dogs on the beach."

Ric from Tybee "Politically correct, any dogs on the beach should
be on the beach and any dogs not on the beach should not be on the
beach, unless they are. My opinion is that dogs could be on the beach
from October thru March only. Backwater beach all year."

Gillian from Tybee "Dogs should be allowed on the beach at
certain places - paying $100 a year fee to do so."

LaDon from we don't know where "Dogs should not be on the beach
because a lot of people walk barefoot on the beach and dogs use the
bathroom on the beach, and it is unsanitary."

Ellie & Frank from Danbury, CT - "Even though we love animals,
dogs included, they cannot be trusted around children. Also without a
"pooper scooper" law it can get messy. They should be on a leash, but
better yet, not allowed."
Lindsay from Boxborough, MA "I think it can be a definite problem
to have dogs free on the beach, because they infringe on other people's
ability to enjoy their beach fun. However, I think that if dog's owners
are respectful of others by keeping their dogs on leashes, cleaning up
after them, or keeping them to restricted areas so that they do not
affect others negatively, then it could be acceptably permitted."
Stephanie from Tybee "I have no problem with any animals on the
beach. The beach is home for many animals to begin with and we leave
more trash on the beach than any animal would. If you're concerned with
the dogs leaving their remains behind, have you ever wondered where the
remains of the sea creatures end up? All over you when you're walking in
the water. Get over yourselves - you're probably not that clean to begin
with anyway."

Tina from Tybee "If owners are willing to take responsibility for
the animals, dogs shouldn't be a problem. They (the dogs) enjoy the
water as much as humans do."

Connie from Tybee "If the problem is keeping dogs on the beach
under control, then maybe the City could have a registration fee before
people are allowed to bring their dogs to the beach. People pee & poop
in the water anyway."

Don from Tybee "It's ok at both ends of the beach by the river.
There ought to be laws & restrictions, i.e., pooper scooper & leash
laws. They should not be allowed to run free."

Kevin from Tybee "Dogs should be allowed on the beach if they
behave in a reasonable manor, and don't attack other people enjoying the
surroundings."

Richard from Tybee "I think I would enjoy taking my dog on the
beach (if you can clean up after your animal)."

John from Tybee "Yes, dogs should be allowed on the beach at
times, season, etc. Dogs are people too."

Leonard from Savannah "It's fun to bring a dog to the beach,
owners must be constantly attentive to their animal. Make sure you clean
up after them, and if they are naturally mean, DON'T bring them out."

David from Port Wentworth "Dogs are part of the whole beach
experience. Who else is there to catch the balls and frisbees?"

Walker from Tybee "DON'T like stepping in doo!"

Bob from Tybee "Need provisions for walking our K-9 friends on
Tybee's sandy white beaches, with restrictions. Need to clean up any dog
poo. Should be special hours, dogs on leash and off leash from 6am to
7am."

Roma the Tybee Yard Goddess "NO DOGS ANYWHERE."

Brent from Tybee "Dogs sometimes scare children and stir up sand
into peoples faces. I'm not against dogs on the beach, but I believe
that there should be a designated area for dogs and I also feel strongly
about owners picking up after their animals."

Michael from Tybee "When I'm running with the dolphins, dogs get
in the way. No dogs on the beach."

Julia from Tybee "Yes, dogs' owners must clean up after the
mess." |
Mallory from Tybee "A Compromise! Some areas could be opened to
dogs during offhours and offseason. A committee of dog owners and
non-dog owner residents should recommend what areas should be open to
dogs and what areas should be closed to dogs. The North Beach, an
important bird area, should be permanently closed to dogs. |
