...so what do you
think that our American flag, sweet justice, and Stacye Smith of Tybee
have in common? turns out it is Judge Steve Scheer who made it clear in
his Tybee courtroom that our flag is not to be ripped off. Stacye Smith
& Lannie Jarrel placed a giant flag at her property on 18th Street & the
Strand after 9/11 folks, very nice. it stood wind whipped with Lannie's
3 by 6 boards backing it. it stood through storms and it reminded a lot
of folks of the flag being held up and planted by U-S Marines on Mt.
Suribachi in WW2. pride. lots of folks shot the breeze about the flag,
posed in front of it for pictures, or just took pictures of it like
noted Tybee patent attorney Michael Graham. Tourists and locals shared
in enjoying the flag...and the moment.

...Tybee percussion mistress Miss Sylvia Gott still commands her front
row table at Doc's Bar and has something to show us all. That folks, is
a letter from U.S. Representative Jack Kingston commenting on all her
glowing newspaper reviews. Jack, no stranger to Tybee, writes, "I hope
you keep on keepin' on for many decades to come." She backs Charlie
Sherrill and is often joined by David Reese, Roger Salter, and Donna
Vaughn. The darlin' 93- year old headliner graciously thanked him for
his kind words written on official U.S. House stationary and invited him
to visit her at Doc's soon. Then, it was off to the Middle East for Jack
Kingston on a fact finding mission in a very tough and tense time. His
delegation met with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon before he left Israel to
meet with President George Bush in May.
...and words of
praise for Tybee's radio guru, Jerry Rogers, on being named Entrepreneur
of the Year by the Savannah Chamber of Commerce.
The Voice of his locally owned WRHQ 105.3 and noted Tybee jogger and
resident of 33 years, Jerry called the award. "flattering and humbling."
He credited Tybee's water and air resources for his win and called
himself lucky since there are some 10,000 businesses in Chatham County.
Way to go Mr. Rogers. Your no nonsense music-first-neighborhood rocks.
Jerry's professional life is all about creating memorable radio
programming. When you see the lad, give him a big hug!
