...just shootin' the
breeze with tybee folks who like to eat out. they say the hottest new
chef on our island is Ryan Buttermer. you'll find him operating at Doc's
Bar. his shrimp creole you'll want to kill for...at least.
about our Lighthouse, when does all the noise end? a lot of babble and
mis-information in the air. a lot of noise in the news media. perhaps
the clearest path is being voiced by Council Person Walter Crawford.
Walter is advising that a joint ownership agreement between the City of
Tybee Island, and the Historical Society be created. makes sense, folks.
both parties already have a lease agreement. maybe there will be peace
in our time over this stewardship issue. it still centers around public
domain issues. When you really boil it all down, the Lighthouse is about
all of us on Tybee. we see it's strength and promise of protection. that
is our heritage. let us all protect it and move forward...together.
... just shootin' the breeze recently with developer Jim Stoeffler on
the roof of his spectacular Bull River Yacht Club. man, what a view of
our tybee, tybee road, the shipping lanes, downtown. Jim even has a
swimming pool on top of that building and the rumor is he's thinking
about a secret deal to make the building even more incredible for Tybee
and Savannah. more on this story as it develops. it's a dazzler...
no secret garden in front of Cynthia&Gavin Murphy's house on the ocean
side of 18th street. Cynthia ought to get yard of the month for the next
decade for what she has crafted. folks walking to the beach often stop
and just gawk. hey, it's that pretty. check it out.
and when you are in Garden City, check out Tom Cannon, our former City
Manager. Tom is now a Department Head of Public Works. we wish him well.
his wife Delane tells me Tom is also wearing two hats as he heads up
planning and economic development. busy guy, eh? Delane says he is
looking forward to the challenge.
...just shootin' the breeze with Craig Harney at WTOC-TV and he tells me
that last summer's mega hit, Improv at Doc's: A Tybee Celebration just
may be repeated as part of the station's Beach Bum Parade coverage of
the Memorial Day Celebration.
call the station and
voice your support for a return of Improv! ask for Craig as he really
loves the show! Craig shot it!
now that would be so cool and a tribute to Charlie Sherrill and all the
incredible artists who worked with him to star in the local production
that aired three times on WTOC last august. best advice...call Ms. Wanda
Parker, Doc's owner, now... so the darlin' lady can squeeze you in! see
it there...
jokin' with Tybee Legend Al Rooster Williams and his lovely bride Carol
at their Miller Avenue home a while back. we checked out his gun
collection, did our math, and now figure that Rooster is the 7th Largest
Army in the free world. what a guy! you might want to ride shotgun in
his classic bmw!
and you might want to shoot the breeze with Tybee's Jimmy & Becky Ford
about D-J's Piano Bar. they like it and the dancin' floor works. so do
the white tablecloths, the lighting, the great bartenders including
Laura O’Neil ..and, you can have conversations without screaming over
the music...imagine... and great sing along standards played on that
magnificent piano. Ms. D-J is serving up a beaut of a start-up. The
Breeze says thumbs up!
and imagine popcorn...popcorn by Tess at Rascal's...word on the street
is she pops the meanest and tastiest stuff...and folks, she does it with
a smile!
and there's Dean Morrison's idea of tasty---how about a TybeeTram based
at the Pier that services us locals as well as tourists? he has that
idea cookin' we hear. ask him to keep it alive. worth shootin' the
breeze.
finally got a chance to jabber with Flower Wanda Martin about her
incredible green carnations sold for St. Paddy's Day. these babies
lasted more than two weeks without even starting to wilt. the lass has
magic.
and magic lives in our 93 year old Sylvia Gott. the gifted percussion
section queen returned from a successful musical tour of New Orleans
bistros recently to claim her front table at Doc's Bar and keep the
music sweet. she told me she had to update those folks on Tybee's
Coastal Wave approach to creating very cool music.they probably wanted
to steal her down there. glad her daughter got her back to us.
suppose if we had Ms. Gott as U N Ambassador.. well, the world might be
just a better and safer place to live. she's Tybee Royalty!
probably will run into you soon
...just shootin' the breeze.
