Margaret Dulohery - "My husband and I
have chosen to live at Tybee because it has four of our favorite things:
natural beauty, great people, tranquility and an unpretentious ambiance
(not to mention a daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren nearby in
Savannah). I choose to frequently depict Tybee scenes in my art because I
believe it is important for an artist to paint what she or he knows best
and loves most." "We feel most fortunate to wake up each morning to the
renewed splendors of island life. A bicycle ride around the island, a
visit to a favorite restaurant where the staff are friends, the sense of
community and small town goodness are all things that are important to
us." "The sun or rain on the beach, sunsets and sunrises, the
ever-changing marshlands, children at play, seagulls and boats, and
relaxed beach goers. Is there any wonder a Tybee artist never runs out of
inspiration? I have no patience with fellow artists who say they cannot
think of anything to paint. The ideas and opportunities are endless. If I
live for another 40 years, I will be unable to paint all the wonderful
things around me." I am grateful not only for the impressive and abundant
beauty of the island, but also for a community which is supportive of art
and the artists who create it. I don't know what we did to be so blessed,
but I do know that Tybee is the place for us - a place where we feel at
home with our neighbors and with our surroundings."

Ann Jackson - "I
moved to the Quiet Island of Tybee for a slow and quiet pace and a neat
place for the family to visit. It reminds me of the many years ago, how
life used to be. It's a nostalgic thing I guess."
|

|
Joann Hanson - "I
chose Tybee because I spent every summer growing up here. I always loved
Tybee. It's a wonderful place for art and it is heaven on earth."
|

|
Fred Urvant - "Tybee
is one of the few good places that has an ocean breeze. I've enjoyed the
Tybee Village area for the past nine years. Sunsets, sunrises and the
sound of the waves."
|

|
Melinda Urvant -
"Tybee is a unique and wonderful Island. A wonderful place to live and
create. One does not even have to leave for anything. It is a warm blanket
around you."
|

|
Kathy Strong - "I
love to live at Tybee because it is almost in the ocean, quiet and easy
going."
|

|
Linda Lindeborg -
"Tybee has been my refuge for over 20 years. Rik and I made it "home" just
over 3 years ago. Why? I love to paint Tybee. The quality of light is
astonishing! I'll never run out of subject matter. The simplicity of life
here suits me. More time to make art!"
|

|
Rene Heidt - "I
didn't choose Tybee, it chose me. I have been here since I was 15 and I
wouldn't change a thing. Tybee is perfect."
|

|
Rebecca Schwartz from
Shell Art - "I chose Tybee to help support the local artists and the
community. Tybee is the nicest, quietest, fun and laid back place. Tybee
is the only place I can wear shorts and flip-flops to work. Couldn't get
much more relaxed than that. I love the people and the tourist."
|

|
Denise Butson from Seahorse Gallery -
"The art community of Tybee drew me like a magnet and I have enjoyed all
the wonderful people I have come to know."
|
|

|
Margie A. Bach from Seven Swans Studio
- "I chose Tybee Island for my studio because of the wonderful energy on
the Island. The laid back attitude and the eclectic mix of people are
right up my alley. The wonderful old trees at Tybee Oaks, the birds and
water really add to my artwork, which is generally about nature and
animals."
|

|
Chuck Schnizler -
"The environment is awesome. The multi-colored sunrises and sunsets change
everyday. The seabirds, the sea oats, sand dunes, the surf, shrimp boats
and the dolphins. The opportunities for photos are unlimited. Ships big
and small, the lighthouses, the people, the laid back attitude of the
Island itself. It is an easy place to get inspired. A place to shoot
photos and dream." |

|
Debbie Brady Robinson
from Atlantic Beacon Gallery - "Why I chose Tybee? I'm a native! When
I went off to study art, I met my husband Mark. I was gone 20 years from
the time I began college. The beauty and charm lured me back. There's no
place like Tybee, my home!"
|
 |
Sonjia Dittmar from
Dragonfly Studio - "Tybee chose us and through the beauty of this
landscape and creativity began. Myself as an artist uses a lot of color in
my work along with natural unglazed pieces in which nature forms its
color."
